There are various programs people have made, particularly for DJs, that will analyze and try to predict key and bpm. Not as intuitive as newtone since you actually have to watch what notes light up and try to figure it out from there but it's still useful. Pitcher is another useful option for this. You can then send that to the playlist as midi data and then use that to figure out the key using a similar method as above. Even in the demo version it will analyze audio and pretty accurately determine the notes. You should at least have access to the demo version. All majors have a relative minor and vice versa, look up your circle of fifths if you don't know what they are.Īnother option is newtone. You can do this in either major or minor it doesn't matter. The one that matches all the notes is your key. Then go to the stamp option in the piano roll, set it to either major or minor and then just start start from C and move up until the notes all match. Make sure you are putting the notes into the piano roll as you play them. Whatever notes aren't dissonant are notes within the key.
